Who would have ever thought about casting Christina Aguilera in her big screen debut, opposite the legendary superstar Cher? Former actor, Steve Antin did, and now we have a huge, extravagant movie musical called Burlesque.

A small town girl named Ali (Aguilera) decides it’s high time to get away from her cheap ass boss and head on down to Hollywood. Once there, she starts looking for a place to make a living as a dancer, the girl’s a natural after all! Going through the Backstage West, she starts to get desperate and things aren’t looking good. That is, until she spies a little place with a sign that calls her name… “Burlesque”.

There is a moment in Burlesque where Christina Aguilera is on-stage, and she finally belts out this massive musical number… you could literally feel the excitement from the audience.

While Christina is certainly not new to the entertainment business, it took a musical with Cher for her to step in front of the cameras for her big screen debut. And most impressively, she is pretty damn good as a small town girl looking to make it big.

Stanley Tucci is currently promoting his latest feature Burlesque, starring the powerhouse combo of Cher and Christina Aguilera. While speaking to both he and Cher, iamROGUE.com had the opportunity to talk Captain America: The First Avenger.

While he couldn’t spill the beans on too much, he did have this to say when asked about whether he was shooting or not, “Yeah, I’m done. They shoot for like another three weeks. I had the best time… the best time!”

Burlesque

Screen Gems has released a second movie trailer for Steven Antin’s contemporary musical Burlesque. Check it out below.

Synopsis: Aguilera’s Ali runs away from Iowa in search of fame and ends up waitressing at The Burlesque Lounge on the Sunset Strip. But not for long. “Christina really takes it all off in terms of makeup and hair for a lot of the movie,” says director/writer Steven Antin. “She looks like a girl right off the farm.” That is until Kristen Bell’s headliner, Nikki, shows up tipsy one night and Ali must fill in. Ali helps turn what once was a lip-sync club into a singing-and-dancing revue after she displays her vocal fireworks onstage in numbers like But I’m a Good Girl. Cher is Tess, owner of a retro club who has a modern-day problem: She can’t make the payments on her over-mortgaged property. Together, Ali and Tess manage to transform the Burlesque Lounge into a success. Stanley Tucci is Sean, the lounge stage manager, a go-to guy for the gals and best friend of Tess.

The first trailer for the Christina Aguilera film, Burlesque, has premiered and it looks to have very little to do with actual burlesque and everything to do with being a few-years-too-late Chicago wannabe. At least in terms of its look. In terms of its story, it's ripping off, oh, a hundred or so movies/musicals about a small town girl who moves to the big city to fulfill her dream of hitting it big, but discovers that it's a rocky road to stardom.
