This week kicked off with the red band poster for Ted, the feature directorial debut of Seth MacFarlane, the creator of much-loved animated series Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show.  Now, for humpday, Universal Pictures has followed up that delightfully coarse trailer with a new one that's a bit more family friendly.

This summer's comedy Ted is rated R for "Crude and sexual content, pervasive language, and some drug use."  You'll see examples of all that in the thoroughly red band trailer for the film, which marks the directorial debut of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.

Other than being ridiculously attractive thespians who are both in very good places with their respective careers, what do Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum have in common?  There are probably some other things, but of greatest importance is that they've been offered the two lead roles of Jupiter Ascending.  What is Jupiter Ascending, you ask?  Well, it's being kept oh-so mysterious, but it's a new science fiction film from Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski.

You'd think that being the mastermind behind almost the entirety of Fox Sunday night animation block would keep Seth MacFarlane far too busy to co-write and direct a live-action feature film.  Evidently Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show aren't enough to occupy his time, though, because Ted, MacFarlane's live-action directorial debut, is on the way this summer.  The first poster has made its way online, showing the unidentifiable back of Mark Wahlberg and the titular teddy bear.

If you’ve never heard of director Will Gluck, then learn his name now because he is one filmmaker that you will be hearing from for a very long time. Gluck first made a name for himself as a feature film director last year with his sophomore outing Easy A starring Emma Stone, which went on to become both a critical and box office success. His recent release Friends with Benefits, has received positive reviews and earned almost $20 million in its debut last weekend despite opening opposite Captain America: The First Avenger on the second weekend of Potter-mania. All things considered, Gluck is well on his way to becoming one of the most interesting and unexpected mainstream directors working in the industry today.

Will Gluck began his career on TV writing for such short-lived but popular shows as Grosse Pointe, and Andy Richter Controls the Universe, as well as creating series like Luis, and The Loop. He made the jump to the big screen by helming the collegiate comedy Fired Up in 2009 before producing and directing Easy A, and eventually Friends with Benefits. His newest outing, the “will they or won’t they” comedy Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake (The Social Network), and Mila Kunis (Black Swan), hit theaters on July 22nd and features the two sexy stars as platonic friends who engage in the age old experiment to see if acquaintances of the opposite sex can sleep together with out letting their emotions get in the way of their friendship.

Sam Raimi has not directed a feature since 2009's spookablast ride Drag Me to Hell.  Had some still fairly mysterious circumstances not scuttled the project at Sony, this summer would've seen the fourth Spider-Man film directed by Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker.  Instead, we'll be getting the Raimi-less reboot The Amazing Spider-Man next summer and right now, the director is reuniting with his Harry Osborn James Franco.  The actor will be Franco-fying the lead role in Oz The Great and Powerful, a prequel to The Wizard of Oz chronicling how a scamming illusionist ends up the man behind the curtain in Oz.  Disney announced today that production on the film is officially underway in the brand new Raleigh Studios in Michigan.

Some things that are enjoyable about the latest red band trailer for Friends with Benefits, in no particular order.  1. Two sexy people (Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake) not infrequently being sexy together.  2. An abundance of casual expletives.  3.  An even greater amount of even more casual sexy talk, sometimes dirty, sometimes euphemistic, sometimes both at once.  4. Woody Harrelson going way over the top while engaging in behavior established in number 3.  5 and 6.  Emma Stone and Andy Samberg in what are sure to be brief but funny roles, with Stone in particular going amusing crazy on the subject of John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland."

Despite these enjoyable aspects, Friends with Benefits does look as though it will adhere rigidly to a romantic comedy formula, but I suppose that for many people, the predictability of the genre can actually be a plus.  Either way, enjoy the film's second red band trailer, which is quite different from the first one released many moons ago.

For years and years, fans have pined for a continuation of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise.  We've stared off into the distance, ponderously imagining a fourth entry exploiting the limitlessly variable scenarios in which Bruce Campbell's wisecracking, big-chinned Ash could be entertainingly placed.  With Army of Darkness having completed the trilogy in 1992, though, the time for a straight sequel is probably long past, but talk of a remake or reboot surfaces with surprising regularity.  It has happened once again, but this time the rumors are being lent a little credibility by Campbell himself.

Well before The Simpsons became the longest running animated series in primetime, The Flintstones was the king of televised animated.  Any and all animated subsequent sitcoms owe much to the prehistoric comedy, including The Simpsons and Family Guy.  Between Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show, creator Seth MacFarlane is responsible for roughly 98% of the programming on Fox, he will naturally be rebooting The Flintstones as a television series and potential feature film.  The show has been in development for some time, but all the deals are freshly in place, and the series will go into production this fall for a televised premiere in 2013.

Mark Wahlberg's in a good place these days.  The erstwhile Funky Bunch leader's passion project, The Fighter, which he spent years laboring on, was a critical and commercial success.  Last summer's The Other Guys, in which Wahlberg bickered to comedic effect with Will Ferrell, didn't do too badly, either.  He's currently involved in the action thriller Contraband and the comedy Ted, which will be the live action debut for Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.  Now, it looks like Universal is also developing an action-comedy titled Bait and Switch for Wahlberg to star.
