As plenty of genre film fans will tell you, the Academy Awards generally seem to exclude science fiction, fantasy, and horror films, regardless of their pedigree. Oh, there are exceptions, of course, such as The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, but more often than not, if a film has costumed avengers or lasers, the very best you can hope for is a token nomination. Don't get all bent of shape though, because there are awards for just that sort of thing. The Academy of Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy has announced the nominees for the 37th annual Saturn Awards, which honor excellence in genre film. Unsurprisingly, Christopher Nolan's Inception has the most nominations, with nine. Tron: Legacy and Let Me In both managed seven nominations. On the televised side, AMC's The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad rule the roost. Check out the comprehensive list of Saturn nominees right here.
AMC has released a new trailer for its upcoming small screen adaptation of The Walking Dead,
which premieres Halloween night, October 31 at 10pm. The new trailer
seems to be more action-focused than the previous advertisements - it is
almost edited together like a trailer for an intense action thriller.
Executive produced and written by three-time Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile). Watch the trailer above now!
Synopsis: Police officer Rick Grimes leads a group of survivors in a world overrun by zombies.
