Box Office Roundup: February 4 - 6, 'The Roommate' Arrives at #1

Super Bowl weekend always seems to put a damper on the box-office, and this year was no exception making it the smallest box-office total gross in 15 years. Since this also happens to be the 13th straight weekend that ticket sales sank below last year's numbers, it is a little worrisome to say the least.

Those old enough to remember Single White Female may have a little bit of déjà vu with this weekend’s number one film, called The Roommate. The PG-13 thriller starring Leighton Meester as a psychotic roomie, managed to collect around $15.6 million for the number one spot. Just below the surface was Sanctum, which managed to pull in around $9 million to make it to number 2.

As far as the rest of the top 10, there wasn’t anything surprising. In the number 3 position we had No Strings Attached with $8.4 million. The King’s Speech pulled in $8.3 million. And finally, at number 5, The Green Hornet earned itself another $6.1 million.

Next week we might see a change however, with Justin Beiber: Never Say Never, Gnomio & Juliet, Just Go With It and finally, The Eagle starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell. Which of these movies are you looking forward to?
