Unofficial pictures from the set have been our primary means of gathering information on next year's remake of Paul Verhoeven's brilliant 1987 satire RoboCop.  Since production on the remake wrapped up many moons ago, then, we haven't seen much from the new RoboCop.

But with some pickup shooting now underway, we have some more good looks at Joel Kinnaman in the redesigned RoboSuit, along with his trusty RoboCycle and, in the tradition of Verhoeven's hero, a ridiculously big gun.

Though the prequel-sequel has been shooting for around a month, 20th Century Fox has decided that now is the time to blow the doors off Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The first official look behind the scenes has hit, showing off both the human and ape leads in the follow-up to 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  That's in addition to an up-to-date official synopsis and even a nugget of casting news.

Judy Greer is a phenomenally talented actress, a beautiful woman with surgical comedic instincts. 

She'll be putting those instincts to use in her first major motion-capture role as Cornelia, the lead female chimpanzee in next year's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes already had plenty of high quality actors attached, but director Matt Reeves has now found an actress to play the sequel's female lead.

Keri Russell will play an as-yet unspecified role in next summer's follow-up to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, itself a prequel to Planet of Apes.

Gary Oldman is like good cheese. 

Whether he's doing restrained work in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy or going whole hog in The Fifth Element, Oldman improves any movie he's in, even a bad one, just like a slice of swiss on an otherwise bland sandwich.

Apparently Matt Reeves wants some artisan cheese on his Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hoagie, because Oldman is the newest addition to the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel.

Batman is back!

Available for purchase on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download beginning December 4th is The Dark Knight Rises, the third and final chapter in director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy. Following the success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Academy Award-winner Christian Bale (The Fighter) returns once again as the Caped Crusader defending the streets of Gotham from a whole new crop of bad guys.

The film also features cameos from Batman Begins actors Cillian Murphy (Red Lights) as Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow, and Oscar-nominee Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List) as Ra’s al Ghul. 

While Batman Begins was loosely based on Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One, and The Dark Knight took its inspiration from seminal Batman stories such as Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore, and Batman: The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb, The Dark Knight Rises seems to take its lead from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, as well as Batman: Knightfall by Chuck Dixon, which first featured the villain Bane.

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had a chance to visit The Dark Knight Legend Exhibit at LA LIVE in Los Angeles and speak with George Barris (Creator of the Original 1966 Batmobile), Andy Smith (Builder of The Tumbler from Christopher Nolan's Trilogy), Jeff Dunham (Comedian and Owner of a Restored Michael Keaton Batmobile), and Mark Greenhalgh (Warner Bros. Corporate Archive) about the once in a lifetime event and their contributions to The Dark Knight legacy. In addition to featuring all five big screen Batmobiles, the exhibit also includes costumes and props from Christopher Nolan's Trilogy, and Batman art. 

Dane DeHaan is having one hell of a good year! The actor, who until this year was best known for his roles on the HBO series In Treatment and True Blood, has had not one but three major movies released in 2012. 

DeHaan first gained attention earlier this year for his role as a teenager that gains super powers and then travels to the dark side in the surprise hit, found footage film Chronicle. He was next seen in director John Hillcoat’s critically acclaimed ensemble film Lawless, which will be available on Blu-ray and DVD beginning November 27th and stars Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy. Not to mention, that DeHaan can also currently be seen in a small role as a soldier in director Steven Spielberg’s historical epic Lincoln. If that wasn’t enough, the actor has several high profile projects on the horizon including The Place Beyond the Pines with Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, Devil’s Knot about the West Memphis Three, and a possible role as Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while that is still a rumor and has yet to be confirmed. 

In Lawless, which is based on the novel “The Wettest County in the World" by Matt Bondurant, DeHaan plays Cricket Pate, the crippled best friend of Jack Bondurant (Shia LaBeouf). Jack and his older brothers Forrest (Tom Hardy) and Howard (Jason Clarke) run a profitable depression-era bootlegging business that is threatened by a crooked law officer named Charlie Rakes (Guy Pearce). In addition to DeHaan, LaBeouf, Hardy, Clarke, and Pearce, the film’s impressive cast also includes Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), and Academy Award-nominees Jessica Chastain (The Help), and Gary Oldman (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy). Lawless was directed by acclaimed filmmaker John Hillcoat (The Road) and was written by his frequent collaborator, Australian musician Nick Cave.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with actor Dane DeHaan about his work on Lawless, as well as Lincoln, and the upcoming films Devil’s Knot, and The Place Beyond the Pines. The talented young actor discussed making Lawless, working with John Hillcoat, Tom Hardy’s unusual performance, creating his character, researching the prohibition era, reading the book, how he became friends with Shia LaBeouf, shooting his most powerful scenes with Guy Pearce, as well as Lincoln, what its like to work on a Steven Spielberg set, his role in Devil’s Knot, and collaborating with director Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine) on The Place Beyond the Pines.
