Last summer's X-Men: First Class ended with a snap, crackle, and pop, as erstwhile BFFs Professor Xavier and Magneto ended up on opposite ends of the spectrum agitating for mutant rights.  While Xavier set about establishing his school for gifted youngsters, Magneto adopted his codename and helmet to bring the fight to the Man.  That doesn't mean, however, that Erik Lensherr will be twirling his mustache as an arch villain in the planned sequel, though.  According to screenwriter Simon Kinberg, Magneto will remain a conflicted character in the continuation.

The sheer amount of marketing material pertaining to The Hunger Games ensured that I long ago ran out of things to say about the adaptation of Suzanne Collins's first novel in the crazy-popular young adult novel trilogy.  It's been months of casting speculation, announcements, and endless new images, but today there's a bit of The Hunger Games promotion is quite novel, effectively eye-catching, and really sort of funny.

Next month, Lionsgate is releasing The Hunger Games, a hopeful franchise-starter based on the first in series of phenomenally popular young adult novels by Suzanne Collins.  For the past four years, Summit Entertainment has been quite profitably pumping out Twilight features based on the ridiculously popular young adult novels by Stephenie Meyer.  The last installment, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, is due in November.  Lionsgate recently bought Summit Entertainment.  You see where they're going with this, right?

One day, two big happenings pertaining to The Hunger Games.  It's still early, but the second big news on the potentially huge adaptation of Suzanne Collins's first novel in her dystopian Panem trilogy is the release of a new theatrical trailer.  It's brief, clocking in at not much more than one minute, but it does a lot with the time, hitting a bunch of big emotional notes, getting across the basic concept of the eponymous competition, and setting up the dystopia of Panem.

It's been a few days since Lionsgate released a new still from The Hunger Games, so here we are with yet another new image from the adaptation of the young adult bestseller by Suzanne Collins.  At this rate, shortly before the movie hits theaters, you'll be able to pirate the whole thing as a flipbook made up entirely of all the stills released online over the last several months.  There's other The Hunger Games news today, too, as IMAX has announced that the film will be receiving a one-week limited engagement in the jumbo-sized format next month.

The Hunger Games is two months away from introducing the futuristic dystopia of Panem to movie screens everywhere, but the idea all along has been to adapt all three novels in Suzanne Collins' crazy-popular young adult novel series.  The obvious influence here is Twilight, the franchise that has proven so profitable for Summit Entertainment, which was recently purchased by The Hunger Games studio Lionsgate.  As was the case with that vampire-loving series, Lionsgate is hitting the ground running with The Hunger Games, having already set a release date for the first sequel.  Now, writer-director Gary Ross and star Jennifer Lawrence are talking about the sequel, Catching Fire.

2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine was commercially successful, but critics and audiences didn't exactly fall in love with the film and there was a general sense that the X-Men franchise might be running out of steam.  Then last summer, X-Men: First Class pulled a Batman Begins, basically rebooting the series and setting it in a promising new direction.  20th Century Fox has indicated it would continue with a sequel to the prequel and even hired a writer to do some work, but its been an open question whether or not Matthew Vaughn would return for another round. 

With two months to go until The Hunger Games actually arrives in theaters across this great nation of ours, Lionsgate has released yet another new still from the film.  This is picture number 473,218 from the anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins's novel, and I am officially out of things to say regarding any still from the dystopia of Panem.

Lionsgate has released the final one sheet for The Hunger Games, the much-hyped adaptation of Suzanne Collins's bestselling young adult novel.  Back in October, eight character posters for the film went for stark simplicity, showing each character in profile staring off into the distance.  Then last month, a busier poster conveyed the scale and popularity of the titular survival competition that so enthralls the citizens of futuristic dystopia Panem.

This last one sheet is somewhere between those two approaches, featuring one close-up image of Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss Everdeen with her signature bow drawn, presumably ready to send a lethal arrow through a similarly youthful Tribute from a competing District.  The film's logo is also on display, along with some of the spark effects you see on so many posters these days.

Months ago, somebody in the marketing department at Lionsgate walked into an important The Hunger Games meeting and declared simply, "Pictures."  By fr the most consistent new material from the adaptation of Suzanne Collins's bestselling young adult novel have been stills from the futuristic dystopia of Panem.  For months, these stills were exclusively from the impoverished District 12, and generally featured Jennifer Lawrence and/or Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth standing in the woods.  With just a few months until the film hits theaters, though, we're getting a good feel for the wealthy, ridiculously stylized Capitol.
