One of the most exciting presentations at Comic-Con International in San Diego this year happened on Thursday when fans got their first look at footage from Ridley Scott's "not-a-prequel' to Alien, Prometheus. In attendance at the packed Hall H panel was the film's writer Damon Lindelof (Lost, Cowboys & Aliens), as well as director Ridley Scott via satellite.

Sony's Friday panel for Total Recall at San Diego Comic-Con featured no less than three figures who appeared on other panels earlier in the day.  Star Colin Farrell showed up for the panel promoting fellow remake Fright Night, which debuts in August.  The husband and wife team of director Len Wiseman and supporting player Kate Beckinsale showed up before on the Underworld: Awakening, the sequel starring Beckinsale and produced by Wiseman.  Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, and John Cho also joined in to discuss the remake of Paul Verhoeven's lunacy-filled adaptation of Philip K. Dick's novella We Can Remember it For You Wholesale

Four years ago, writer-director Mark Steven Johnson's Ghost Rider couldn't quite find the right tonal take on Marvel's demonic gearhead Johnny Blaze.  For the sequel, Sony Pictures more or less abandoned that film, bringing aboard directorial duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor while retaining only Nicolas Cage as as Blase and his demonic alter ego.  In the studio's extended Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con today, the directors and castmembers Cage, Johnny Whitworth, and Idris Elba clearly showed that Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will be a very different beast from its predecessor.  Where the first film alternating between very much wanting to be demonically cool and cheesily arch, the footage shown from the sequel demonstrated that this time, the creative team is going unapologetically wild.

At Comic-Con International in San Diego on Thursday FilmDistrict presented the new movie Drive to fans at their Hall H panel. On hand were stars Carey Mulligan (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy), as well as the film's director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson).

IAR had a chance to catch up with Carrie Mulligan, Ron Perlman, and Nicolas Winding Refn after their panel on Thursday to discuss the new film.

Sony's Friday panel was, if not the single most anticipated panel event of the of the San Diego Comic-Con, then certainly right near the top of the list.  While Sony's time in Hall H included panels promoting Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, 30 Minutes or Less, and Total Recall, the real source of the excitement was simple: The Amazing Spider-Man.  Earlier this week, Sony debuted the first teaser trailer for the franchise reboot of Marvel's most popular hero, and the reaction was solid, but certainly not ecstatic.  Going into this panel, the studio and filmmakers had something to prove.  And prove something they did, unveiling a clip reel and a first look at The Lizard that gave a real sense of the tone, style, and just what movie is trying to accomplish.

On hand for the event were director Marc Webb, producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach, along with rebooted Spidey Andrew Garfield and new Gwen Stacy Emma Stone.

Fan-favorite actor and all-around groovy guy Bruce Campbell (Army of Darkness) appeared at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Thursday to discuss Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe, a prequel to his hit USA spy series, which will soon be available on DVD.

With the recent announcement that the long rumored The Evil Dead remake will finally be going into production with a script by Academy Award winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno), we decided to ask Campbell about the project, his involvement with it, and the future of the beloved franchise.
