The presentation included panels promoting Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as Joss Whedon's reveal that the 2015 Avengers sequel is titled Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Marvel knows better than anyone how to make a huge impression at Comic-Con, spoonfeeding fans just enough footage and new information, putting charismatic casts in the spotlight, and having just the right amount of fun.
Fun, thy name be Tom Hiddleston as Loki. The God of Mischief showed up in full Asgardian regalia just as Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige began talking up Thor: The Dark World, the upcoming second sequel in Marvel's Phase 2. Hiddleston, a man whose Tumblr fanbase knows no bounds, clearly had a blast playing to crowd, taking his pompous villain of a character to sneering extremes that almost crossed over into parody.
It's great stuff. Just watch:
If you want to watch the entire panel, minus the footage teasing these Phase 2 releases of course, then check it out below.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is causing quite a bit of hubbub at the moment, but Loki won't be facing off against the titular superteam in the sequel. Nope. But Marvel's most mischievous character returns sooner rather than later. He'll be forced into cooperation with his brother in Thor: The Dark World, which hits theaters on November 8th.
