IAR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Judy Greer Talks 'Ant-Man,' 'Jurassic World,' 'Tomorrowland' and 'Untitled Planet of the Apes 3'

Actress Judy Greer recently published her first book entitled I Don’t Know What You Know Me From: Confessions of a Co-Star. Well, with all the high profile film projects Greer has coming up in the next few years, you’ll definitely soon know exactly what you know her from!

The in-demand supporting actress has roles in the upcoming films Ant-Man, Jurassic World, and Tomorrowland, as well as possibly returning for the third Planet of the Apes movie. Not to mention her latest film Jamie Marks Is Dead, which opened in theaters on August 29th. Greer first gained attention as Bluth secretary Kitty Sanchez on the cult classic TV series Arrested Development. She has gone on to appear in such popular films as The Wedding Planner, 13 Going on 30, Love and Other Drugs, the Oscar-winning The Descendants, Jeff, Who Lives at Home, Carrie, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, where she plays Cesar’s wife Cornelia. She can also be currently seen on the new FX comedy series Married, as well as the wonderfully bizarre Sprint “Framily plan” commercials.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the absolutely delightful Judy Greer during the Jamie Marks Is Dead premiere after party, and I had a chance to talk with her about all of her highly anticipated projects. While the actress was quite cryptic about her upcoming films, she briefly discussed when she begins shooting Ant-Man, her role in Jurassic World, if she has any scenes with dinosaurs, working with director Brad Bird on Tomorrowland, not having any scenes with her Descendants co-star George Clooney, getting to kiss Tim McGraw, and that she hopes to return as Queen of the apes in the next Planet of the Apes movie.

Here is what Judy Greer had to say about Ant-Man, Jurassic World, Tomorrowland, and the Untitled Planet of the Apes 3:

IAR: To begin with, have you started shooting Ant-Man yet?

Judy Greer: No, I have not started shooting yet. But even if I did I couldn’t tell you that.

Are you excited to appear in a Marvel movie?

Greer: Fuck yes! Dude, yeah! Like that’s huge.

How does it feel to be part of the Marvel family?

Greer: Ask me in November.

What role do you play in Jurassic World?

Greer: I play Bryce Dallas Howard’s sister.

Is it a small role?

Greer: Small but poignant.

Do you interact with any dinosaurs?

Greer:  I can’t say that. (Note: That probably means yes!)

What did you think about the concept of Tomorrowland when you signed on for the project?

Greer: I didn’t get a script ever. That is also a giant secret.  It’s a really huge exciting honor to be in a movie of that size. I left shooting Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to shoot Tomorrowland so it was two huge movies back to back. It was a little overwhelming.

Can you talk about working with director Brad Bird?

Greer: Brad was so mellow. He was just like, “Hi, this is so fun. This is so cool.” It was so weird. I was like, you’re directing a billion dollar movie and you’re just like, “What’s up. I’m glad you made it and could do it. Let’s see what’s going to happen in this scene.” It was so easy and fun.

Did you get to reunite with your Descendants co-star George Clooney in Tomorrowland?

Greer: No, we were ships in the night. But I’m going to tell you another cool thing and this is no offense to Mr. George Clooney at all but I did get to kiss Tim McGraw in Tomorrowland. So I’m adding him to the kiss list. I have so many on the kiss list. You have no idea. But I’m kind of glad that I don’t get to kiss George again because I’ve already kissed him so now I get to add a new guy.

Finally, do you think you will return for the next Planet of the Apes film?

Greer: One hundred percent yes, without a shadow of a doubt. I feel like it is totally going to happen because I am the Queen of the apes. I’m just saying, Dawn does end with my family on a pedestal. That’s all I’m going to say.

Thank you for letting me ask you those questions Judy, I really appreciate it.

Greer: I’m probably going to get yelled at by my publicist. But it turns out that I’m actually really good at keeping secrets. I had no idea.
