Even before Kick-Ass hit theaters in the Spring of 2010, there was talk of a sequel to the adaptation of Mark Millar's ultraviolent comic book series. After the film debuted, sequel discussions continued, even as a follow-up looked increasingly improbable, if not impossible. Often, reports of progress on the next installment in the Kick-Ass saga came from hyperbole-prone Millar himself, but apparently Kick-Ass 2 might actually, really happen soon.
Earlier this summer, we brought you news of a rumor that DreamWorks was already planning a sequel to their upcoming remake of the ‘80s horror film Fright Night, which doesn’t even open until this Friday, August 19th. Supposedly, the sequel would feature David Tennant’s character, Las Vegas illusionist Peter Vincent, in a new city fighting vampires and other supernatural creatures. The rumor also mentioned the return of Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s “Evil” Ed Thompson in some capacity.
This morning, IAR’s Jordan DeSaulnier had a chance to speak with Fright Night screenwriter Marti Noxon and took the opportunity to ask her about the rumor of a possible sequel already being in the works. Noxon would not confirm that plans for a sequel are on the way but she did say that the chances of a second chapter are dependent on the film’s commercial performance this weekend. “It all depends on how the movie does,” she said.
This afternoon, I had a chance to speak with actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse myself and I decided to ask him about the rumor of a possible sequel and what he knows about the project. “I haven’t heard about that actually,” confessed Mintz-Plasse. I followed up by explaining to the actor the rumored plot for the film and asked him if that was something that he would be interested in taking part in. “I love Tennant, and I think he kills in this movie,” he said. “I would love to do a sequel with him but I haven’t heard about that yet.” Finally, the actor had this to say on the matter. “So we’ll see what happens but if it does well they’re going to want to do a sequel and I would definitely do it again.”
Chloe Grace Moretz, the young actress who sliced many an artery as Hit Girl in Kick-Ass, ecstatically mentioned in an interview with MTV News (via Cinemabland) that she, "Just booked a huge new project." The internet Speculate-O-Tron immediately went into overdrive, with many a fan hypothesizing that the mysterious project must be The Hunger Games, the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' novel. Moretz was a contender for the lead role in that film, but lost out to Jennifer Lawrence, so speculation centered around supporting characters. Badass Digest did some sleuthing, however, and discovered that Moretz may, in fact, be referring to Dark Shadows, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp.
Before you even think about watching this clip from Super, the down-and-dirty superhero comedy from writer-director James Gunn, be warned that it contains imagery that is graphic, to say the very least. The minute-long clip, which debuted over at Coming Soon, is a variation on the classic cartoon 'lightbulb' moment, offering an imaginative illustration of Rainn Wilson's character having a revelatory idea. Rather than a lightbulb, though, Gunn slimy phallic tentacles, revoltingly up-close gore, and the hand of God. Check out the clip, unless you're squeamish.
In the X-Men universe, there are mutants who lucked out and can still pass for homo sapiens, then there are those mutants who cannot hide their mutation. Usually, the latter group have blue skin or fur, like Beast, Nightcrawler, and Mystique. Havok, one of the new super powered students in this summer's prequel X-Men: First Class, appears to be comfortably in the former group. He looks like a normal dude, despite his ability to emit hugely destructive energy blasts, as evidenced by this latest photo from the new X-adventure from Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn.
Today 20th Century Fox has released a first glimpse at moving images from the latest film in the X-Franchise, with the debut of the trailer for X-Men: First Class. Check it out below!
The 1960's-set prequel tells the tale of the establishment of the Xavier Institute and of Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto's (Michael Fassbender) philosophical estrangement, all set against the backdrop of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In the name of curiosity and controversy, I present a look at the 10 most pirated flicks. And, if you haven’t already guessed, Avatar tops the list, having been downloaded more than 16,500,000 times. That’s a significant jump from last year’s most pirated film, Star Trek, which was digitally swindled nearly 11,000,000 times.

Check out iamROGUE.com's Editor-in-Chief JimmyO in his Exclusive Interview with Kick Ass star Aaron Johnson and Sam Taylor-Wood as they talk about their latest John Lennon biopic, Nowhere Boy!
Nowhere Boy is more than just a John Lennon biopic; it is an endearing coming-of-age drama that happens to be about an icon. Director Sam Taylor-Wood handled the subject in a beautiful way, focusing on the relationship between young John, his Aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas) who helped raise him, and his free-spirited mother (Anne-Marie Duff). This is a sweet and satisfying film that pays tribute to Lennon and his legacy.
Recently, while promoting the film, both Sam and the film’s star Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) took a little time to talk to iamROGUE about their film. They both spoke about Lennon and of course, the music that he left us with. Mr. Johnson even talked a bit about what is happening in regards to Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.
