1 Day to 'Skyline': Top 10 Monstrous SCIFI Monsters (Pt. 2)

You want to see something really scary?

Since we’ve been talking a whole lot of Sci-Fi thanks to The Brothers Strause latest Skyline, we’ve been thinking monsters! And since the monsters there look massively intense, it seems like a good time to revisit a few classic beasties!

The science fiction genre has presented a number of terrifying aliens, including those murderous monsters in Skyline. So iamROGUE.com has put together a list of some of the scariest in the SCIFI universe. We found a number of drooling, oozing, murdering creations that you can only hope will never find their way to earth in part 2 of our Monstrous SCIFI Monsters list! You can check out Part 1 here.

What are you going to see this Friday at your local Multiplex? Skyline anyone!

5. The Blob – The Blob (1958 and 1988)

Mostly, the revised version of The Blob spooked me. This evil jell-o mold can pull a large man into a sink drain by crushing his body with a horrific force. That’s freaking terrifying! This gelatinous monster is so huge and gooey, it would be damn near impossible to outrun. While the original film is an absolute classic, the gore that the remake brought in certainly didn’t hurt. You’ll never look at dessert the same way again.

4. Eugene Tooms –“The X-Files” The Series (1993)

Why do we have a TV show character listed here? You wouldn’t have to ask if you watched this frightening performance from Doug Hutchison. Eugene Victor Tooms is a strange and creepy fellow. He can stretch himself out to crawl through AC vents that are barely ¼ inch thick. While we’re not sure how it would be possible to pull that off, it doesn’t matter, if Tooms wants your liver you are pretty much screwed.

3. Cloverfield Monster – Cloverfield (2008)

Whether it is the monster himself that freaked out audiences or those evil little attachments that seem to come off of it and attack, the Cloverfield monster was pretty darn scary. This massive beast took down the city and so many victims with it. While we have to wait to see if the monster will return in a sequel, we remain thankful that this nasty giant is only in the movies!

2. Every Single Monster – The Mist (2007)

There is very little out there that is more disturbing than the multitude of beasts that inhabit The Mist. From strange spider-like creatures to giant tentacles that can pull you up into the sky, this was a world nobody wants to live in. While the ending irked me on many levels (if you are a parent, you’ll know what I mean), you have to applaud this brave and horrifying film. Ironically, the scariest monsters were the townsfolk themselves, especially Mrs. Carmody (a wonderfully evil performance from Marcia Gay Harden).

1. The Alien - Alien (1979)

Still the best after all these years! This H.R. Giger creation is so frightening that she/he/it is absolutely beautiful in its shape and design. Even today, there is nothing quite like these beasts. The way they procreate and the way they are born is simply astonishing. While the Ripley/Queen alien creation in Alien Resurrection is a tad bit strange, you at least had that magnificent Mother all stretched out sharing her love for her babies. No matter which Alien film you are watching, these are simply the scariest and most fascinating cinema created alien life form ever made.

What is the scariest alien you’ve ever seen on film?
