1) Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis: Bruce Willis
Another entry from a well established web series, episode 11 of Zach Galifiankis’s hit funnyordie show is an absolute riot. The video opens with Galifianakis reprimanding badass Bruce Willis for smoking and then quickly moves to a joke about Ashton Kutcher being Willis’s son. This is a MUST WATCH.
2) The Last Exorcism - BEST OF Chatroulette reactions
This video was definitely a viral marketing video for the Lionsgate film – The Last Exorcism - and that doesn't matter because it is awesome! The reactions are so real that you can’t deny this stunt was pulled off perfectly. Pranking boys, who are looking for a girl to take her shirt off online, is just hilarious.
3)Gylne Tider: “Let It Be”
What do you get when you cross Roger Moore, Jason Alexander, Ricki Lake and Tonya Harding? You get Danish gold.
4) Scamazon Studios: WE F**K YOU!
Amazon, as you may know, formed Amazon Studios with Warner Bros. to assist new filmmakers in making movies, but there are some huge holes in their plans to "help." This video completely parodies all of the issues everyone is having with their film ventures. Love it!
5) Ed Hardy Boyz 2: The Case of When That Hot Filipina Girl Lost Her Tramp Stamp At Mini-Golf
The first Ed Hardy Boyz video, featuring Nick Kroll and Jon Daly, was by far my favorite video of 2009. So of course the second one would make it onto my “best of 2010” list. I won’t tell you what it’s about, but I will tell you that it stars the strangest ensemble ever to be put together: Ian Ziering, Pauly Shore, Fred Durst, Christian Audigier, Tom Sizemore, and Pat O'Brien.
6) Hypnosis with Kevin Pollak (ft. Statham and Walken)
When I watched this video for the first time, I laughed for almost 8 minutes straight. Now, I still get a giggle or two just at the thought of it. Hypnotizing a perfectly willing - albeit clueless - person and then asking him to pretend to be Christopher Walken alongside the award-winning actor, Kevin Pollack - who is also impersonating Walken - is a hilarious concept. It is a little mean-funny, but funny, when they tell him while he is hypnotized that he is also being attacked by a swarm of killer bees.
7) Very Mary-Kate: Photo Shoot
Mary-Kate Olsen has been the subject of many impressions over the years, but this web series is by far the best spoof I have yet seen. Actress, Elaine Carroll, is brilliantly funny in every video, especially in the “Photo Shoot” episode below. There are a few other gems in the series that will make you laugh out loud. Check out the Philip Seymour Hoffman videos to see what I’m talking about.
8) Scarface School Play
The title says it all. When I first watched this video, I thought it was real! I posted it on facebook to see if my friends thought it was crazy and inappropriate for children to be snorting popcorn and to be saying lines like, “Tony - you do coke and you kill people!” These kids are like 6 years old and it was posted from CindyMom101!!!! All of my mom friends told me that it was one of the most disturbing videos they had ever seen. AHH! In the end, it was fake and I was a bit relieved, but I love it because a) I love SCARFACE, b) it is kind of ingenious to see it through a child's eyes, and c) I did laugh.
9) 14 Actors Acting: James Franco
The NY Times video series makes most of its participants seem a bit self-indulgent. Give it to James Franco for turning what could have been an altogether pretentious project into something more silly than serious.
10) NZT-The Clear Pill
It just came out, but I really think this video is one of my favorites this year. The Hangover's Bradley Cooper doing promotions for a pharmaceutical company?!!! As he is cliff-jumping, laughing maniacally, and swimming in infinity pools, a young woman’s voice echoes, “discontinued use will result in sudden death.” How can you not love this video?
What's your favorite web video of 2010?
