10. Greta Gerwig – Greenberg

Greta Gerwig is unbelievably charming. We loved her performance in the chilling House of the Devil, and then came the film Greenberg where she starred opposite Ben Stiller. This is a one of the most touching and profound performances of the year. Greta is simply marvelous and she will next be playing Linda to the hilariously funny Russell Brand in the remake of Arthur. We can’t wait!

9. Mia Wasikowska – The Kids Are All Right

Mia Wasikowska was a nice surprise in Alice in Wonderland. She was exactly what you’d expect from a grown-up Alice. Yet it was her surprise summer hit that really had people talking. In The Kids Are All Right, she played a teenage girl with two mom’s searching for her sperm donor dad. She is an exciting and stunning young actress and we look forward to her taking on the role of Jane Eyre.

8. Mary Elizabeth Winstead – Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

There is something truly special about Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She is terrific in horror flicks and she rocked Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof half of Grindhouse (the underrated gem Tarantino created with Robert Rodriguez). Mary is undeniably beautiful and quirky in Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It must have been her multi-colored hair and that unimaginable vulnerability she carries because every guy she dates has to fight the ones before. She stole our hearts, so much so that it will be very scary watching her battle The Thing in the upcoming remake.

7. Jennifer Lawrence – Winter’s Bone

It’s safe to say that Jennifer Lawrence deserves an Academy Award nomination for her fantastic performance in Winter’s Bone. She was truly incredible as a young woman trying to save her family’s home. This fantastic film has opened up a couple of doors for Jennifer, and we are better for it. She’ll soon be a part of X-Men: First Class and she has a couple of other interesting projects including the thriller, House at the End of the Street. If you haven’t seen Winter’s Bone yet, definitely make it a priority.

6. Emma Stone – Easy A

I’ve had a crush on Emma Stone since Superbad. She can be smoking hot and sultry yet she has strong comedic chops which make her quite a catch. This undeniably talented young woman helped make Easy A a surprise summer hit. She is funny, gorgeous and she is going to be in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot… what is not to love about this incredible talent?
