The summer of 2010 has been a less than stellar year when it comes to movies. While things turned around a bit with some surprisingly effective hits including Inception and Toy Story 3, there were a ton of films that just didn’t connect and left a little something to be desired.
All right all you T-Birds, get your Pink Ladies and rev up your "Greased Lightning" because after thirty-two years, Grease is still the word!
I know this for a fact because when iamRogue took a trip to the Arclight in Hollywood, California, the nostalgia was out of control.
On June 16, 1978, Grease originally packed theatres and thrilled audiences with its bestselling soundtrack and the winning chemistry of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. My memories had something to do with falling madly in love with Olivia and wanting to see the movie again and again. But that was what made Grease special. I didn't like musicals back then, and I can only handle so much of them now, but that particular film was absolutely, bubble gum fun. The music, the slicked back hair, and Frankie Avalon as Frenchie's guardian angel all make for a campy, kooky good time. And in 2010, the good just got better.
