First Look: 'Now You See Me 2' Adds Daniel Radcliffe and Lizzy Caplan to a Stacked Deck

The Four Horsemen are back!

Actually, only three of the Four Horseman are back, but the first look at Now You See Me 2 illustrates how the sequel is stacking the deck despite the absence of Isla Fisher.

Fisher isn't returning as Henley, but the role of the sole woman in the magician/thief group is being taken up by the great Lizzy Caplan, currently playing a honeypot in The Interview.  She and Daniel Radcliffe are the two biggest additions to the ensemble in the sequel, which finds the erstwhile Harry Potter playing the son of Michael Caine's character.

Caine once again plays Arthur Tressler, joining fellow Now You See Me veterans Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Dave Franco.

This behind the scenes picture, courtesy of Fandango, leaves out Morgan Freeman, but the gravitas machine is back as the awesomely-named Thaddeus Bradley.  Also not pictured but definitely showing up in Now You See Me 2 are The Best Man Holiday's Sanaa Lathan and Jay Chou, who you may remember as Kato in The Green Hornet.

So what's Now You See Me 2 all about?  Like Now You See Me, it's about all-star magicians stealing lots of money with style.  The official synopsis keeps things vague, describing the story thusly: "One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their mind-bending spectacles, the Four Horsemen resurface in NOW YOU SEE ME 2 only to find themselves face to face with a new enemy who enlists them to pull off their most dangerous heist yet."

Note Eisenberg's close-cropped haircut there.  He wrapped his role as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just a few months ago, and somehow the production managed to keep even a single solid image of Eisenberg with a shorn head under wraps for months.  His short hair here makes it pretty clear that the Oscar-nominated actor did indeed shave his head to play Luthor.

Louis Leterrier directed the first movie, which turned out to be a surprise hit, grossing $351.7 million in the summer of 2013.  Leterrier was on board to direct the sequel, as well, declaring, "It was always at least a diptych, two movies, to tell one long story, so yeah, I'm very much involved in it."

That didn't happen, however.  Instead, Now You See Me 2 is directed by Jon M. Chu, who hopped aboard another franchise with G.I. Joe: Retaliation.  The Justin Bieber: Believe director recently shot a Jem and the Holograms feature, and he's keeping his blockbuster schedule busy with this sequel.

He's working from a screenplay by The Proposal scribe Peter Chiarelli and Ed Solomon, the Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure co-writer who contributed to Now You See Me.

Now You See Me 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 10, 2016.
