‘Yellow Submarine’ Reboot To Begin Filming In April

Plans for the making of Robert Zemeckis’ Yellow Submarine reboot looked to be in full bloom as 2009 gave way to 2010. A cast was selected that consisted of Cary Elwes, Dean Lennox Kelly, Peter Serafinowicz, and Adam Campbell, all set to star as George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, respectively. However, in order to cut costs, Disney shut down Zemeckis’ mo-cap workshop, leaving things looking a bit grim.

So then, what’s to become of The Beatles? While George Dunning’s original is a splendid viewing, this is one remake I wouldn’t mind seeing.

Cary Elwes spoke with MTV at this past weekend’s New York Comic Con, and the actor shared a few surprising (and delighting, in my personal opinion) details amidst his Saw 3D promotional time. According to Elwes the project is still a go, and the plan is to begin production next April.

In addition to providing his voice, Elwes admitted he will indeed don a mo-cap suit, though a non-disclosure agreement prevented him from providing further details.

He did however express the fact that he is, “thrilled to be a part of it.”

I'm thrilled to be a part of the viewing audience Cary, I really am.

Given the changes the new film will bolster due to time, technology and the loss of beloved members John Lennon and George Harrison, we’re going to be in for a whole different journey. Will you be coming along?
