Arnold Terminates Again in 'Terminator: Genisys' Super Bowl Spot and Poster

"New threat. New Mission. New Fate," declares the Terminator: Genisys Super Bowl TV spot between explosions and thumbing techno bass.

If the fifth Terminator is all about the new, then why does this all feel so, so familiar?

In these thirty seconds, we're mostly seeing slicker CGI-laden versions of stuff from the previous movies or even other, non-Terminator blockbusters.  It's never more apparent than when a school bus does a big Dark Knight-style big rig front-flip on the Golden Gate Bridge, setpiece setting for everything from Rise of the Planet of the Apes to X-Men: The Last Stand.

Arnold Schwarzenegger returns after sitting out Terminator: Salvation, so he can continue to get an unprecedented amount of mileage out of a catchphrase that, like the indestructible robo-killing machine itself, just will not die.  Thirty-one years after the first T-800 uttered "I'll be back," you better believe the line caps off this TV spot.  And it's the main statement on the poster Paramount just revealed.

Terminator: Genisys is a sequel-prequel-reboot that loops around on James Cameron's original.  John Connor, leader of the future war against robots in 2029, sends Kyle Reese back in time to protect his mom in 1984.  Once there, Reese discovers that the original timeline has been overwritten by all Skynet's time travel antics. In this new timeline, Sarah Connor is already an unstoppable badass raised by a good guy T-800.  So Reese teams up with them to fight a new T-1000-style killer robot.

Schwarzenegger faces off against a CGI version of his 1984 self in the sequel, joined by Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, and Jason Clarke as rejiggered versions of Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, and John Connor.  The cast includes Byung hun Lee as Skynet's latest weapon, along with JK Simmons, Courtney B. Vance, Dayo Okeniyi, and Matth Smith as a cop obsessed with Sarah, Miles and Danny Dyson, and a mysterious ally of John's, respectively.

After jumping from Game of Thrones to blockbuster sequels with Thor: The Dark World, director Alan Taylor steps into franchise shoes previously worn by James Cameron, Jonathan Mostow, and McG.

Terminator: Genisys is set to open July 1st.  Paramount and Skydance are hoping it kicks off a new trilogy, with back to back sequels already scheduled for the summers of 2017 and 2018.

Here's the poster, which touts the return of a 67 year-old action star and the 3D release:
