Thor, Black Widow, and Nick Fury Continue the 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Poster Parade

Avengers: Age of Ultron character posters, assemble!

Marvel has been dropping posters for this May's sequel all week, starting with the crowded, hyper-'shopped official one-sheet.  Then Robert Downey Jr. unveiled an Iron Man character poster and Mark Ruffalo followed suit with a Hulk poster.

Now, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson join the poster party with new promos featuring Thor, Black Widow, and Nick Fury.

Jackson had the privilege of debuting all three posters on Twitter.  Fury was the lynchpin of The Avengers, but his screentime in Avengers: Age of Ultron is less significant on account of S.H.I.E.L.D. effectively going up in smoke by the end of last year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Since Joss Whedon really gave Johansson a fierce, effective character to play in the first movie, we have high hopes for Natasha Romanoff in the sequel.  Trailers have indicated that flashbacks/hallucinations are likely to give fans a better idea of Black Widow's backstory in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  We're awfully curious just how she became a killing machine, but we're doubly curious where she is by the end of the movie and how that will impact her loyalties in next year's superhero smackdown Captain America: Civil War.

As for the God of Thunder, he's not as much the odd man out this time.  "We pick up with Thor having stayed on Earth from Thor 2, so he’s here, he’s part of the team," Hemsworth tells Collider.  "This is his home for the moment.  The initial kind of threat, the attack from Ultron, is personal because it’s at all the Avengers, and Thor then begins to see a bigger sort of picture here about what this threat could be potentially, and begins to kind of tie-in all of our films.

The only marquee Avengers who have yet to receive character posters at this point are Captain America and Hawkeye, played by Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner, respectively.

Of course, Age of Ultron adds quite a few new heavy hitters how might just get posters of their own.  Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson join the MCU as super powered siblings Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, while Paul Bettany makes the jump from vocal to physical performer as synthezoid Vision.  Then there's James Spader as the CGI baddie Ultron.

And there are supporting MCU players like Don Cheadle as Rhodey, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, and Idris Elba as Heimdall, as well as whomever Marvel Studios is keeping under wraps.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 1st.  Stay tuned to the same Rogue channel for more posters as Marvel drops 'em.
