Epically Epic, Action-Packed 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Mega-TV Spot

Are you wearing socks?

Well prepare to have them knocked off by this new Avengers: Age of Ultron extended TV spot, which is basically a minute straight of barn-burning new footage from Marvel's super-sequel.

This mega-commercial for the most anticipated blockbuster of the summer is chock full of geekgasmic moments.  It's chock so full of them, as a matter of fact, that fans may want to consider skipping the TV spot in order to preserve the surprise and joy of each action and character beat for when butts are actually in seats come May 1st.

So if you already know you're going to see Avengers: Age of Ultron, consider opting out of this spot.  If you need convincing to partake in the next adventure of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, however, this is one minute that ought to go a long way towards selling that ticket.  After all, this looks like more of everything audiences loved about The Avengers, plus a punchier visual approach, a bigger scale, and even snappier interplay between these neon gods.

At the top of the spot, Tony Stark lays out the new Avengers pecking order.  Since S.H.I.E.L.D. went up in smoke in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Stark bankrolls the Avengers and designs all the tech, but it is, in fact, Steve Rogers calling the shots.  Of course, once Ultron shows up, all bets are off:

Thor hammer-slamming Cap's shield into Ultron drones!  Hulk leaping like the world's scariest grasshopper!  Quicksilver's Eastern European hodgepodge of an accent!

For months now, the marketing of Avengers: Age of Ultron has leaned on the battle royale between Hulk and Iron Man in full Hulkbuster armor, but as the release date approaches, more and more showstopping visual effects moments are coming down the pipeline, so expect more kickass moments the ones in this spot over the next month and a half.

When this sequel begins, the Avengers are working as world police, but that's a full-time job.  In order to give the team a break, Tony dusts off a plan for a worldwide drone force.  To run this Iron Legion, he creates Ultron, an impossibly advanced artificial intelligence that ends up being psychotic and villainous in the extreme, seeking to destroy the Avengers from the inside.

Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, obviously, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.

Joss Whedon is also back as the writer-director, with Avengers: Age of Ultron expected to be his final contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
