George Clooney’s ‘Farragut North’ Gets New Title

George Clooney is gearing up to direct his fourth film, The Ides of March. Previously titled Farragut North, the film is based on a play of the same name. The title change arrives with some more news regarding the film, including some casting notes and funding updates.

Exclusive Media Group and Cross Creek issued a press release which states the companies will jointly fund the project, which faces a planned February 2011 shoot. Filming locations will include Michigan and Ohio.

As for who may appear in the upcoming film, here’s a bit of a shocker: Clooney himself will likely star in the film. Also on board after being offered a role is the talented Ryan Gosling. Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachel Wood are also tapped for the project.

Check out a quick plot rundown below:

With sharp, quick-witted dialogue and set against the spectacle of modern world power and politics, The Ides of March is a intense tale of sex, ambition, loyalty, betrayal and revenge. The film follows a young press spokesman who falls prey to backroom politics, the treacherous manipulations of veteran operatives and the seduction of a young intern.
