Fox Wants Theron for 'Alien' Prequel AKA 'Brokeback Alien'

So with Charlize Theron opting out of Clint Eastwood and Leonardo DiCaprio’s J. Edgar Hoover biopic, word is that 20th Century Fox is keen on courting Theron to play the lead in Ridley Scott’s long gestating Alien prequel project.

Scott, the man responsible for the original Alien, Blade Runner, and Gladiator, apparently loves Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) for the role, but Fox is more than a little gun-shy about spending a whole lot of money with a lead actress so unfamiliar to American audiences.

According to Vulture, Scott’s enthusiastic about the idea of having a multicultural space crew for his prequel, but Fox is looking for the economic security that having a movie star provides.  With that in mind, the Alien prequel is being rewritten, with a beefed up part to appeal to Charlize Theron.

So far the tone of the movie is described as hard science fiction meets psychological drama with romance. Or as we called it in a previous article 'Brokeback Alien'. That will make sense when you read the article.

Would you rather have seen Theron working in the past for Eastwood, or are you hoping to watch her rocketing through space for Scott?
