Robert Rodriguez and 'The El Mariachi Trilogy' Tribute

If you are a fan of Robert Rodriguez, it is hard to imagine not being excited about the recent Blu-ray release of three of his classic films. The first release is a double feature of El mariachi and Desperado, the second is the third and final adventure of “El Mariachi” himself (Antonio Banderas) in Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

The release marks the first time on Blu-ray for all three flicks and they look pretty darn good. While you certainly can’t get away from the low budget of El mariachi when it comes to the HD transfer, it looks as good as you could expect it to. Desperado, with its larger budget, certainly comes out a winner and is the better looking of the two. Either way, this double disc is worth picking up for two terrific flicks with a ton of great extras.

The real stand-out however is the release of Once Upon a Time in Mexico. This all-star, action/adventure features a terrific cast, including Banderas, Johnny Depp, Mickey Rourke, Salma Hayek and the ever so lovely Eva Mendes. This was easily my favorite of the three films, and this particular Blu-ray happens to have the best audio, visual and of course, the best special feature section.

Now with all the small talk out of the way, let’s check out this exciting video tribute to The El Mariachi Trilogy, finally available on Blu-ray.

Which “El Mariachi” adventure was your favorite?
