'Take Me Home Tonight' Donates a Cut of Box Office to a Worthy Cause

If 80's nostalgia, hard-partying, skinny ties, car theft, and general hilarity weren't incentive enough to see the new comedy Take Me Home Tonight this weekend, there's now another reason to put your butt in that comfy theater seat.  On Ryan Seacrest's Kiss FM radio show this morning, star/co-writer/producer Topher Grace revealed that executive producer Ryan Kavanaugh will donate 1% of the film's box office gross to former American Idol contestant Chris Medina to cover his medical expenses.

Medina's fiancee Juliana Ramos, to whom he has been engaged since 2007, was involved in a car accident that left the uninsured young woman with brain damage and partial paralysis.  The accident occurred just two weeks before the couple was to be married.  26 year-old Medina says he fell in love with Ramos at first sight eight years ago, and he has stayed by her side since her trauma, acting as a caregiver.

Medina was recently voted off of Idol, but he nonetheless has released a single, and the proceeds given from this weekend's cinematic release should go a long way to helping he and Ramos deal with their medical bills.

Their story has moved many people, who rightly see it as a validation of love and compassion in a cynical age.  So if you want to help out while enjoying a good time at the movies, you know where to go this weekend.

Take Me Home Tonight stars Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, Teresa Palmer, and Chris Pratt.  It hits theaters nationwide Friday, March 4th.
