Branson, the man behind The Virgin Group, recently began a film production facet of his global brand (VirginProduced), and Limitless is his first co-production with Kavanaugh's Relativity Media. Given Relativity and Kavanaugh's experience in the film business, perhaps Kavanuagh should have been the one dousing the rebel billionaire at Branson's first premiere, but it seems to be the other way around as shown in this cell phone photo from the premiere.
This is not the first time that Richard Branson has gone splashing a famous personality. Readers with a sharp memory will remember that in 2007, he playfully threw water in the face of Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report. If you're not currently using the brain drug NZT and need a refresher, this video will help, but you're going to have to get to the very end to see the water tossing.
While the Branson-Colbert waterworks were all for the sake of entertainment, the Ryan Kavanaugh dripping was a triumphal celebration, a miniature version of the Gatorade dump by NFL players on the Super Bowl's winning coach. After all, Limitless is the latest release in a year that has included critically lauded hits – such as The Social Network and The Fighter – for Relativity, of which Ryan Kavanaugh is the founder and CEO.
Limitless opens at a theater near you March 18th.
