Ed Harris to Portray John McCain in HBO's 'Game Change'

Last we heard of the casting on Game Change, the HBO movie about the 2008 presidential election, four-time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore had signed on to play former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.  According to Deadline, Palin's running mate will also be portrayed by a quadruple Oscar nominee.  Ed Harris is set to play Arizona Senator John McCain for director Jay Roach.

Roach also directed the Austin Powers trilogy, as well as Meet the Parents and its first sequel, Meet the Fockers.  Lest you think him an odd choice to direct such politically-charged material, remember that he helmed the 2008 HBO movie Recount, starring Kevin Spacey.  That film chronicled the controversial Florida recount in the 2000 election between Al Gore and George W. Bush.  For his take on the 2008 election, Roach is again teaming with his Recount writer Danny Strong, who adapted the teleplay from the best seller Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin.

So now that the Republican ticket has been cast with Ed Harris as John McCain and Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, who do you think should play the key players on the Democratic side, including Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton?  I know it'll never happen, but I wish they'd get Saturday Night Live veteran Darrell Hammond to dust off his Clinton impression.  Also, do you think the high profile and familiarity of the figures they're playing will doom these actors to basically just doing impressions?
