Mutants Aplenty in New 'X-Men: First Class' Images

Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn was, for a time, set to direct the third film in the X-franchise, X-Men: The Last Stand, but he departed the project and was replaced by Brett Ratner.  He's back with the franchise now and directing the prequel X-Men: First Class, and it looks like the 1962 setting of the film has allowed Vaughn to cut loose stylistically in ways that The Last Stand would not.  The print edition of Empire Magazine (via Moviewebhas premiered new images of the cast, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, January Jones, and Jennifer Lawrence.  Give the photos a gander.

In that first photo, you're looking at Michael Fassbinder and James McAvoy as youthful variations on Magneto and Professor X, respectively.  In those two line-up images, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult go blue as Mystique and Beast, while January Jones sports skivvies to play Emma Frost.  That devilish looking gentleman is teleporter Azazel, played by Jason Flemyng.  In the final image, McAvoy is rocking a protoype version of Cerebro, a sleeker version of which graced the head of Patrick Stewart in previous installments.  Not pictured are Kevin Bacon, Lucas Till, Zoe Kravitz, and Oliver Platt.

Am I the only one who's really hoping that Professor Xavier makes it through this movie with a full head of hair intact?
