Dan Scanlon is Directing Pixar's 'Monsters University'

Next year will see not one, but two new animated features from Disney and Pixar, the undisputed masters of contemporary computer animation.  First, in the summer, there's the medieval Scottish adventure Brave, then in November, we'll be treated to a Monster's Inc prequel which we recently learned will be titled Monsters University.  Now, Coming Soon has the scoop that Monsters University is directed by Pixar veteran Dan Scanlon.

Scanlon co-wrote Cars, and served as a story artist on that film and Toy Story 3.  Additionally, he directed the Cars short film 'Mater and the Ghostlight'.

Monsters University is produced by Kori Rae, who also produced Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Up and the Cars spin-off 'Mater's Tall Tales'.  She was an animation manager on Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life, as well.

Original Monsters Inc stars John Goodman and Billy Crystal are expected to return as the voices Sully and Mike.  The prequel will tell the tale of their initial meeting and competition as classmates in college, long before they became the top scarers in Monstropolis.  Monsters University is scheduled for 2D and 3D release on November 2nd, 2012.
