Variety reports that Universal Studios has purchased the Bait and Switch spec script from writer Matthew J. O'Neill, and the studio is keen to make this a project for Wahlberg. There are no details on the potential story, but it's being produced by Scott Stuber, who is also a producer on Ted. If stuber sounds familiar, it's because he's producing Battleship, 47 Ronin, and Your Highness.
Beyond that it's an action-comedy, there are no story details available on Bait and Switch, but we know for sure that Universal can't seem to get enough of Wahlberg. The studio is behind both Contraband and Ted, in which Wahlberg plays a man whose childhood teddy bear comes to life as a foul mouthed, alcoholic womanizer. Also on board Ted are Mila Kunis, Joel McHale, and Giovanni Ribisi. Contraband, meanwhile, teams Mark Wahlberg with Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, Diego Luna, and J.K. Simmons. And don't forget, Wahlberg's also attached to the video game adaptation Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for director David O. Russell, with whom Wahlberg has worked on The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees, and Three Kings.
