If the idea of Will Ferrell starring in an almost-exclusively Spanish-language, action-heavy homage to telenovellas doesn't appeal to you, then you're going to hate this (possibly leaked) trailer for Casa di me Padre. In the film, Ferrell is Armando, an impoverished ranch hand whose highly successful brother, played by Diego Luna, returns to the family ranch with his gorgeous bride-to-be, and she promptly falls for Armando. Amidst the passion and betrayal, the brothers run afoul of Mexico's most ruthless gangster, portrayed by Gael Garcia Bernal, cast way against type. It looks even more absurd than it sounds.
The trailer was unearthed deep below the surface of Youtube by Gordonandthewhale(via Slashfilm), and it's clearly a real trailer, but the means of its discovery suggest that it was perhaps not meant for public consumption just yet. As such, it could very well disappear at any moment.
This looks deliciously nuts. Will Ferrell looks to be in top form, Nick Offerman is guaranteed to be funny as a US immigration official, and the presence of Y tu mama tambien duo Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal is really promising. Actually, the fact that a film this potentially absurd exists at all is promising.
