Relativity Media Distributing 'House at the End of the Street'

With the acquisition of the thriller House at the End of the Street, Relativity Media is getting into the Jennifer Lawrence business.  In the film, directed by Mark Tonderai, Oscar nominees Elisabeth Shue and Lawrence play a mother and daughter who move into a new home, only to discover that a gruesome double murder occurred in the house across the street.  Complications ensue when Lawrence befriends a survivor of the only survivor, played by Max Thieriot.  Relativity will distribute the film Stateside, with FilmNation taking care of international distribution.

Here's the press release from Relativity Media:

(Beverly Hills, CA) April 14, 2011 – Relativity Media announced today that it has closed a deal to acquire US distribution rights to FilmNation Entertainment and A Bigger Boat’s thriller House at the End of the Street, starring Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone), Oscar®-nominee Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas) and Max Theriot (My Soul to Take).

Directed by Mark Tonderai (Hush) and written by David Loucka (Dream House), the film is about a mother (Shue) and daughter (Lawrence) who move into a new community and find themselves next door to a house in which a psychotic young girl murdered her parents. While the locals insist the girl vanished after the brutal murders, the young newcomer befriends the surviving son (Theriot) and discovers the sinister story is far from over.

Producers are FilmNation Entertainment’s Aaron Ryder (The Prestige), A Bigger Boat’s Peter Block (Saw franchise), and Hal Lieberman (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines). FilmNation Entertainment will handle distribution outside of the U.S.

House at the End of the Street does not yet have an official release date.  Jennifer Lawrence will next appear in this summer's X-Men: First Class, and she was recently cast as Katniss in The Hunger Games, an adaptation of the young adult novel by Suzanne Collins.  Relativity Media, meanwhile, has the forthcoming action epic Immortals from visual stylist Tarsem Singh, who is also helming the studio's Snow White, which will star Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, and Armie Hammer.
