In his conversation with Rick, Hemsworth mostly discussed his role in Thor, but also touched upon the team-up, revealing when he'll actually join the production. Sayeth the wielder of Mjolnir:
"We're doing The Avengers in about a week or so. They all come together—Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor. It's an attempt to form an alliance, and it's conflict the whole way through.”
Writer-director Joss Whedon has extensive experience with ensemble relationships, having created and executive produced the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, so it's good to know that the film won't give be all group hugs and perfectly executed teamwork. In particular, I can see Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark being the cause of some major issues in the group, fighting with Hemsworth's Thor and Chris Evans' Captain America for leadership of the team. Also getting in on the tension are Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, and Cobie Smulders.
The Avengers is set for release May 4, 2012, with Thor hitting theaters this May 6th and Captain America: The First Avenger following on July 22nd.
