Apparently the pilot episode, directed by Jeffrey Reiner, tested poorly with focus groups. Officially, NBC isn't saying a thing, but word on the grapevine is that Palicki, who has done solid work on Friday Night Lights, was not the problem.
You can imagine that Wonder Woman would not be a cheap show to produce on a weekly basis. Given that the network just had a fairly disastrous experience with The Cape, they're probably not too hot on another potential superheroic debacle.
Warner Bros Television and David E. Kelley could now shop the pilot to other networks, but since every other network already declined Kelley's teleplay, it seems unlikely that the Amazonian Justice Leaguer will find a permanent home. The script was eviscerated online even before cameras rolled, and the costume mockery amplified criticism to no end.
We'll just have to wait and see what becomes of the pilot, which also starred Elizabeth Hurley as a nefarious scientist and Cary Elwes as a trusted confidant of Diana Themyscira, aka Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman. It's unlikely, but perhaps this will mean a greater emphasis on potential cinematic endeavors for Wonder Woman?
