Game Change is based on the non-fiction bestseller 'Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime' by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. The book covered the 2008 presidential election from both the Republican and Democratic campaigns, but Roach's film will focus exclusively on the McCain campaign, specifically from the point at which he chose Palin as his running mate. Roach is best known as the director of the Austin Powers films, as well as Meet the Parents and its first sequel, but he previously directed HBO's Recount, which chronicled the controversial Florida recount in the 2000 election between Al Gore and George W. Bush. Roach is once again teaming up with his Recount writer Danny Strong for Game Change.
Ed Harris and Julianne Moore may have the most high profile roles, but Game Change also features Woody Harrelson, Sarah Paulson, and Ron Livingston. There's no premiere date yet, but its currently filming and we'll likely get a look at it before 2011 is through.
