If the concept is somehow still unclear, the full theatrical trailer lays everything out for your convenience. In a nutshell, though: Jackman is a former boxer whose shot a championship was ruined by robo-boxing. Now a down-on-his-luck rock-em, sock-em promoter, he discovers that he has an adorable moppet of a son, played by Dakota Goyo. Together, they begin training an obsolete bot in the hopes that it can attain the champion status denied our plucky protagonist.
Also in the film are Evangeline Lilly (Lost), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), Kevin Durand (Robin Hood), Hope Davis (American Splendor), and Phil LaMarr (Futurama). It's directed by Shawn Levy, the purveyor of family comedies like A Night at the Museum and its sequel, as well as Cheaper By the Dozen and Date Night.
Real Steel hits theaters on October 7th.
