Joe Cornish makes his feature directorial debut with Attack the Block, which is produced by Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz producers Nira Park and Edgar Wright (who also directed all three). Cornish and Wright also contributed to the screenplay for this year's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, directed by Steven Spielberg.
The film's cast consists of mostly unknown actors unknown to American audiences, anchored by a small role from the inimitable Nick Frost, who most recently appeared alongside Simon Pegg in Paul, but has provided consistently funny performances in Wright's films. Also in Attack the Block, though you'll never see his face, is stuntman/movement coach/choreographer/motion capture performer Terry Notary, who has lent his unique skills to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Superman Returns, Avatar, and The Hobbit. Here, he provides the reference for 'The Creature'.
Attack the Block will receive a limited Stateside release starting July 29th.
