New Footage in 'Captain America: Behind the Shield' Featurette

In Thor, Chris Hemsworth's title character wields a godly hammer that not only brings the thunder, but also returns to him like an obedient dog even after being hurled into the face of a frost giant or two.  In the upcoming fellow Marvel movie Captain America: The First Avenger, Chris Evans plays the eponymous avenger, whose shield not only deflects bullets, but also returns to him after being slung at a Nazi or HYDRA baddie.  A new behind the scenes featurette is all about Cap's shield, and it includes plenty of new footage, while going bck to the shield's cameos in Tony Stark's garage circa Iron Man and Iron Man 2.

The video dropped on the Norton facebook page, and the ubiquity of the security software logo — always with throbbing guitar music — in the featurette is actually sort of funny.

Good to see that Dominic Cooper will be providing more than just a really quick apearance as Howard Stark, Tony's pop and the creator of Cap's signature shield.  He is, however, just one member of a big, impressive cast that includes Hayley Atwell, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, and Derek Luke.

The earliest whispered word on director Joe Johnston's period comic book adaptation is apparently quite strong coming out of one very, very select screening.  We'll see for ourselves when Captain America: The First Avenger slings his shield in 2D and 3D on July 22nd.
