So that you don't have to skip to the end, here's the synopsis, which is also courtesy of JoBlo.
Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.
So the film involves scientists and explorers involved in a story, one that takes them into space. Well played, Fox, well played indeed.
As for Ben Foster, his involvement has yet to be confirmed, but that doesn't necessarily discount the story since the project has been so secretive thus far. Foster most recently starred alongside Jason Statham in The Mechanic, and previously appeared in the sci-fi horror film Pandorum. You'll also recognize him from his wild card role in 3:10 to Yuma or as Angel in X-Men: The Last Stand. Also on the intense actor's resume are Alpha Dog, The Messenger, 30 Days of Night, and appearances on the cable series Six Feet Under and NBC's short-lived Freaks and Geeks.
If he is, in fact, on board Prometheus, he is part of a cast led by Noomi Rapace, who shot to international notice as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce are also acting out oh-so mysterious scenarios on the set of Ridley Scott's Alien quasi-prequel.
Prometheus will surrender its mysteries in 3D on June 8, 2012.
