Partake in the First 'A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas' Trailer

Listen, I know everybody's all excited over The Dark Knight Rises, but we're definitely neglecting another cinematic trilogy-capper with the potential to set a new standard in its genre.  I'm talking, of course, about A  Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.  Earlier today, the first official still from the stoner comedy promised a big musical number featuring John Cho, Kal Penn, and the boozy misogynist version of Neil Patrick Harris.  Now, the first trailer has debuted online, and it throws a big holiday-style spotlight on marijuana-scented merriment, including the accidental hotboxing of a car with a child inside.  There's also an insane number of shots maximizing the novelty potential of the 3D format.

That soon-to-be 3D ping pong ball can be viewed in high definition at Yahoo! Movies.

Along with Santa Claus getting blasted out of the sky by a shotgun and Bobby Lee playing with 3D, this trailer promises more of the Harold and Kumar action we're come to love.  It doesn't include many of the supporting players, including Paula Garces, Daneela Harris, Danny Trejo, Elias Koteas, David Krumholtz, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Patton Oswalt.

Once again, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg wrote the screenplay, but aren't directing this time, since they're busy with American Reunion.  While the second film contained an unfortunate political fixation, this Todd Strauss-Schulson-directed chapter looks to focus more agreeably on misadventures and Christmas-based antics.

Here's the official synopsis for the film, which hits theaters November 4th.

After years of growing apart, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents — and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree — going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven — and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.
