These images come the Plano, Illinois set, where director Zack Snyder is shooting some heavy duty action scenes that take place in and around Clark Kent's adopted hometown of Smallville, Kansas. The set photos premiered at SuperHeroHype, where you can find even more stills of Superman sort-of in action.

Obviously, Cavill's capeless whilst rehearsing and whatnot, with those patches around the collar serving to secure the cape to the rest of the costume. The bits on his wrists and sides definitely make the suit look like a piece of Kryptonian hardware as opposed to something Martha Kent, played by Diane Lane, would've made with her sewing machine and some motherly gumption.
Now, I think, is as good a moment as any to be thankful that Warner Bros and Snyder opted against the idea of making Superman himself a digital creation, or putting him in a Green Lantern-style CGI suit.
David S. Goyer, who co-wrote Batman Begins and crafted the story for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises with Christopher Nolan once again fashioned a story with Nolan, who is producing with his wife Emma Thomas. Goyer is also the principal architect of the new Superman screenplay.
Cavill's rocking the cape as Superman, while Michael Shannon and Antje Traue play his Kryptonian nemeses. Amy Adams is the latest actress to step into Lois Lane's heels, with Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White. Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond appear as Kal-El's biological parents, while Harry Lennix and Christopher Meloni both play human military men.
Man of Steel is set for June 14, 2013.
