NBC has confirmed that in 2011 when Steve Carell's contract ends for The Office, it will not be renewed.

By that time, Carell will have been with the show for 7 - some great, some underwhelming - seasons. So now, what will the show do without its breakout star?

Quit while it's ahead? Or lumber on without the show's defining character?

According to NBC's Angela Bromstad, The Office will stay on air indefinitely. Right now, they're tossing around the idea of replacing Michael Scott with a similar character, but in all honesty, there is no way they can replace the inimitable Steve Carell.

I have a strange feeling The Office's 8th season will be its last...
