First up, these two set photos of Michael Shannon, which originate from the film's unofficial facebook, show him in a black outfit with stylized accents matching those seen on Cavill's Superman costume. If you squint, you can also see the shape of an insignia on the chest, very much like the one containing Kal-El's familiar S symbol.

Next up, these three photos of Henry Cavill were taken by a sharp-eyed Chicago fan named Kimber Dolan. We've previously seen Cavill as Clark Kent on the Plano, Illinois set standing in for his fictitious hometown of Smallvile, but this is our first look at the extraterrestrial in the big city of Metropolis.

Plenty of fans are almost surely already grousing and worrying about the fact that the cycling Clark is not wearing a pair of big, dorky glasses. By the end of the film, there's very little doubt that we'll see that consciously nerdy version of Kent, but Man of Steel is an origin story very much in the mold of Batman Begins, after all. Just as that film showed Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne deliberately adopting his callow public persona as the story progressed, so too will this Superman reboot track Clark as he becomes Superman and subsequently understands the need for a secret identity, adopting glasses and poor posture as a ruse.
Under the direction of Zack Snyder, production will continue in Chicago for a spell before moving up to Vancouver for the bulk of principal photography, followed by a brief jaunt to Southern California to film at Edwards Air Force Base. Presumably we'll keep seeing set photos throughout the shoot, including some peeks at Amy Adams, Antje Traue, Laurence Fishburne, Harry Lennix, Christopher Meloni, and maybe even Russel Crowe or Julia Ormond.
Man of Steel is set for June 14, 2013.
