Alexander's terrible day

Shawn Levy, a man who has made himself famous by directing financially successful, critically abominable children's fare such as Cheaper by the Dozen and Night at the Museum, will lead the effort to adapt one of the most popular children's books ever written.

Levy's production company 21 Laps and 20th Century Fox have been given the rights to make Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by current rights-owner Jim Henson Co. Henson Co., brought the project to Levy's 21 Laps believing he has the necessary experience to turn the story "into a [money-making] high-concept family comedy."

As of right now, Levy sits in as just a producer, with no word as to whether or not he will direct. I'm hoping that Levy outsources that responsibility to someone a bit more capable of making a GOOD children's film, say one of the Pixar boys: Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird, or Pete Doctor. Otherwise, this may just be the contemporary destruction of a classic...
