Check Out Some Images From the 'Bunraku' Art Experience

A pureed blend of sensibilities including expressionistic visuals, western cool, old-fashioned musical style, wild world-building, and over-the-top action choreography, Bunraku looks like a wholly unique film.  Josh Hartnett stars as a Spaghetti-Western style drifter who teams up with a roaming samurai played by pop star Gackt to take on Ron Perlman as the tyrannical leader of a town in which the most common mode of communication is elaborate sword fighting.

To properly promote this strange cinematic strip, the film's upcoming released was celebrated by an exhibition of Bunraku-inspired art, courtesy of mixed media artist Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell.  Hartnett and fellow stars Perlman, Woody Harrelson, and Kevin McKidd were all present for the Bunraku Art Experience at the Chateau Marmont, along with writer-director Guy Moshe.  See them all, along with Corbell's artwork in a quick gallery of images.

From left to right, you're looking at Guy Moshe, Josh Hartnett, Ron Perlman, Kevin McKidd, and Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell.

Bunraku, which also stars Demi Moore, is set to arrive in theaters this Friday, September 30th.
