Spielberg's 'The Adventures of Tintin' Gets Another International Trailer

On Tuesday, a new UK trailer for The Adventures of Tintin provided out best look at Steven Spielberg's first 3D motion capture movie (aside from the footage shown at San Diego Comic-Con, anyways), and it was pretty spectacular.  Based on that trailer, the film's  textures are lifelike, the characters are just cartoonish enough to avoid being stranded in the Uncanny Valley, and most importantly the action set-pieces look like ten tons of wonderful, with a certain Looney Tunes craziness to them.  So good was that trailer that another international trailer arrived today, and it's basically just a slight remix of the last one.

The trailer opens with an old man answering a question of Tintin's identity explaining, "Everybody knows him.  That's Tintin."  Outside of America, this is actually a pretty accurate statement, as Herge's comic creation is a figure of huge global popularity.  The sweater-wearing boy reporter inexplicably never caught on Stateside, which is at least partially why we have to wait two months longer much of the world to see The Adventures of Tintin.

The trailer embed is from ComingSoon, and we do appreciate it.

The experts at Weta Digital, who proved themselves the best in the business between The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and Rise of the Planet of Apes, are behind the pixels of this Tintin.  Sporting goofy motion-capture outfits to bring Herge's characters to life is a cast led by Jamie Bell as the title character, along with Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, and Cary Elwes

The screenplay by written by geek titans Edgar Wright, Steven Moffat, and Joe Cornish.  If the movie cleans up at the international box office, we'll be seeing a sequel, The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun, directed by Peter Jackson, who produced this installment.

The Adventures of Tintin kicks it in 3D on December 21st.
