You can, of course, view the trailer below immediately, or you can skip on over the Apple for the HD version in order to assiduously analyze each and every frame, finding the modifications in Iron Man's armor and whatnot. For the ladies, there's Chris Hemsworth's biceps in his Asgardian casual-wear, and for the gents there's Scarlett Johansson grappling some dude with her thighs.
It definitely gets the point across and sets up the notion of The Avengers for all those folks who haven't been tracking the film since the post-credits sequence of Iron Man back in 2008. While there's no shortage of cool poses and explosions, the really epic superhero stuff isn't really in play yet. Since it's basically a teaser, this isn't an issue, and it probably owes to the fact that principal photography ended not too long ago and any big effects shots are still very much works in progress.
We do get a look at the newly redesigned Hulk at the end, and though it's brief, it is very much appreciated, since it felt like he might sit the whole thing out.
So, your line-up, all of whom got their moment (even if it was just a cool shot or two): Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson. Also on board are Cobie Smulders and, of course, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson. Joss Whedon, handling what is only his second feature film as director, looks to have delivered some big, fun action.
The Avengers defend Earth in theaters on May 4, 2012.
