While this need to align The Adventures of Tintin does make sense and should work on the average moviegoer, a lot of enthusiasts were on board a long time ago, when they heard that Steven Spielberg is directing, Peter Jackson is producing, and Edgar Wright contributed to the screenplay, along with fellow British creators of coolness Steven Moffat and Joe Cornish.
Everybody knows Spielberg and Jackson, but Moffat has done great work on Doctor Who and Sherlock, Cornish wrote and directed Attack the Block, and Wright is director and co-writer of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Wright's frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost play supporting roles in The Adventures of Tintin, with Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis acting as leads Tintin and Captain Haddock. Also in the motion capture cast are Daniel Craig, Toby Jones, Cary Elwes, Mackenzie Crook, and Kim Stengel.
The Adventures of Tintin arrives in American theaters on December 21st, just a few days before Spielberg's live action drama War Horse.
