What the world needs is more Men and Black/X-Files rip-offs... I'm not being snarky, I really can't get enough of that kind of thing. While another MiB is two years away, and The X-Files is dead, there's plenty of room for more monster-hunting-in-the-real-world fun to be had. (Unfortunately, I don't hold Hellboy in very high esteem.) Production companies Mad Chance (Jonah Hex) and Circle of Confusion (AMC's upcoming "The Walking Dead") are hoping to fill the void and get a franchise going with Lore, based on the IDW graphic novel that seems like it would nestle in quite nicely with the above mentioned titles.

The book's synopsis: In times past, the world was full of mythical creatures, creatures long since banished and held at bay by the secret society of Shepherds. But when the generational line of Shepherds is broken, a reluctant hero finds her life threatened from every quarter. And the creatures are coming back...

I can get on board any time a creature runs amok, so this sounds like a real treat.

Cory Goodman (Priest) and Jeremy Lott will write the screenplay for the film, which will be produced by Mad Chance's Andrew Lazar and Circle of Confusion's Rick Jacobs. The comic was created by Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise. No director has been announced, but let's hope one is shortly. I need my monster fix!
