Two Posters and an Image from Will Ferrell's 'Casa de mi Padre'

Some folks passed their breaking point with Will Ferrell years ago.  Even this crowd, who argue that he has lingered on one note for too long, might acknowledge that Ferrell has shown a willingness to go for broke with some truly strange comedic endeavors.  One such happily odd venture is Casa de mi Padre, a feature comedy made in the style of a Spanish language soap opera, with every major character naturally speaking Spanish the entire time.  As such, the film is subtitled.  Now that the movie has a release date just a few months out, we've been treated not simply to one poster, but two posters and an official image featuring Ferrell as Armando Alvarez in Casa de mi Padre.

Who is Armando Alvarez?  He's a dim witted ranch hand on his father's Mexican property.  In time-honored fashion, he begins a torrid affair with his more successful brother's beautiful fiancee.  Not only that, but he must save the day when the Alvarez family ends up the target of a vendetta by the most powerful drug lord in the country.

All three of these bits of business are here courtesy of IGN.

Armando's brother is played by the always awesome Diego Luna, while the merciless drug lord is portrayed by his Y Tu Mama Tambien co-star Gael Garcia Bernal.  The fiancee is played by Genesis Rodriguez.  Also appearing in the film are Efren Ramirez, who you'll remember as Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite and Catuey on the second season of HBO's Eastbound & Down.  Perhaps most importantly, accomplished woodworker Nick Offerman, who brings the hilarity as the one and only Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation, also shows his beautiful face.

The film is directed by Funny or Die veteran Matt Piedmont from a screenplay by Andrew Steele, a Saturday Night Live writer whose work includes a few episodes of Nickelodeon's Doug.

Casa de mi Padre is scheduled to hit theaters on March 16, 2012.
