First Trailer and a Gaggle of Posters for 'Wrath of the Titans'

Today, Warner Bros released the trailer for a hugely anticipated 2012 sequel, The Dark Knight Rises.  Then, for good measure, the studio also dropped the first trailer for a somewhat-less anticipated sequel, Wrath of the Titans, which sees Sam Worthington returning to the role of Perseus, which he first played in last year's Clash of the Titans remake.  This trailer is jam-packed with action, giant rampaging creatures, and no shortage of giant visual effects shots.  It's aggressive, and it feels like it has something to prove.  That's fairly appropriate, as Clash of the Titans made plenty of money, but was not received rapturously by any means, so Wrath is going to have to justify its existence by being, you know, a really good time at the movies.

The trailer, complete with Marilyn Manson musical accompaniment, is also available to view in high definition at Apple, so as to properly enjoy Zeus and Hades' big old beards.

Its predecessor became the cinematic poster boy for rushed, sloppy post-conversion from 2D to 3D, but since the film made plenty of money, Warner Bros is again walking down Post Conversion Avenue with Wrath of the Titans.  Since the 2010 film hit right as Avatar was still cleaning up, it'll be interesting to see if audiences that are now more savvy about what they see in expensive 3D will show up for the dimensionalized sequel.  Either way, you can at least look good in some Rogue 3D Eyewear.

Anyways, check out the poster and banners:

Worthington is back as Perseus, along with Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, and Danny Huston.  That's pretty much it for the returning cast, though, and the ensemble is filled out by new additions such as Rosamund Pike, Toby Kebbell, Bill Nighy, and Edgar Ramirez.  Director Louis Leterrier is out as director, with Battle Los Angeles helmer Jonathan Liebesman taking his place behind the camera.

Wrath of the Titans hits theaters on March 30, 2012.
