Full, Ludicrous Trailer for 'Casa de mi Padre' Starring Will Ferrell

Just about a month ago, the first official trailer for Casa de mi Padre provided a very brief, thirty-second glimpse at the wondrous lunacy of the upcoming comedy.  Now, a full theatrical trailer offers a double-barreled blast of gleeful ridiculousness from the film, which stars Will Ferrell as a poor ranch hand.  That might not sound terribly odd, until you consider that Casa de mi Padre contains only a tiny amount of English; it's done in the overblown, melodramatic style of a Mexican soap opera, up to and included almost exclusively Spanish dialogue.  The film is produced by Ferrell's frequent director Adam McKay, and based on this trailer, it contains the happily anarchic, strange spirit of their best work together.

The trailer below premiered at Yahoo! Movies today, and you can head over that way in order to see it in high definition.

I love that Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, the duo who starred in Alfonso Cuaron's Y tu mama tambien more than a decade ago, are now starring alongside Will Ferrell in an unabashed comedy.  The fact that Bernal at one point is inexplicably smoking two cigarillos and Luna throws down with two giant handguns only adds to the surreal goofiness.  Also in the cast are the lovely Genesis Rodriguez and Nick Offerman, a talented woodworker who weekly demonstrates his chops as Ron Swanson on NBC's Parks and Recreation.

Matt Piedmont, who has plenty of comedic experience with Funny or Die and Saturday Night Live, directs from a screenplay by fellow SNL veteran Andrew Steele.

Casa de mi Padre opens in limited release on March 16th.
